Measures to control leaf miner pest in cucurbits crop
Pest Identification:
-
The tiny maggot insects are very small, legless, and yellow in colour and adult insects are light yellow in colour.
Symptoms of Damage:
-
Symptoms of its damage first appear on the leaves. The female moth lays eggs in the cells inside the leaves, from which the larvae hatch and make tunnels by feeding on the green matter inside the leaves. Due to this white spiral stripes appear on the leaves.
-
The affected plant bears less fruit and leaves fall prematurely. Plant growth stops and plants remain small.
-
Due to the attack of this insect, the photosynthesis of plants is also affected.
Control:
-
To control this pest, spray Abacin (Abamectin 1.9% EC) @ 150 ml or Benavia (Cyantraniliprol 10.26% OD) @ 250 ml + Silico Maxx @ 50 ml per acre @ 150 to 200 liters of water.
As a biological treatment, spray Bave Curb (Beauveria bassiana 5% W.P.) @ 500 gm/acre.

Know how to transplant paddy by SRI method and its benefits
-
In this method only 2 kg of seed is required per acre and in this method nursery can be transplanted at the age of 12-14 days only.
-
While transplanting with this method, the distance between the plant to the row is kept 25 x 25 cm, in which weeding is also easy.
-
The farmer gets more profit with less expenditure.
-
Less use of pesticides.
-
The crop is ready for early ripening, that is, the crop is ready in a short period. It is easy to convert one crop farming system to two crop farming systems in rain dependent conditions.
-
In this method, by giving priority to organic manure, it is possible to improve the physical condition of the soil, increase water holding capacity, air circulation in the soil, control soil temperature, etc., which is a good sign for the future.
-
The growth of the roots of paddy is more, the buds also come out more.
-
In this method, the length of the earheads is also more than the earlier method and the number of grains and the weight of the grains are also more.
-
This method does not depend much on water, that is, 15-20 percent more yield of paddy can be easily obtained in one third of the water as compared to the earlier method. Productivity per unit of paddy can be increased up to one and a half times.
