The Government Offers Affordable Seeds, Fertilizers, and Agricultural Equipment to Farmers

Government is giving bumper subsidy to farmers for farming

Many farmers face challenges in purchasing expensive agricultural inputs. To assist such farmers, the Madhya Pradesh government has launched initiatives to provide affordable seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment. Various schemes are being implemented to ensure these resources reach farmers. Both the state and central governments are working together to connect farmers with modern agricultural techniques and facilities.

Under the Food and Nutrition Security Program, managed by the state’s Agriculture Department, 5.15 lakh farmers have already benefited. Similarly, the Madhya Pradesh State Millet Mission Scheme has supported 66,412 farmers. These programs enable farmers to purchase seeds and fertilizers at reduced prices.

The Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension, a Central Government initiative, provides farmers with knowledge of the latest agricultural techniques. During 2023-24, 2.35 lakh farmers received training, participated in Krishi Vigyan Melas, and attended seminars, enriching their agricultural knowledge.

Through the Seed Village Program, 2.92 lakh farmers received 80,000 quintals of seeds. Additionally, free soil health cards were distributed to 9.73 lakh farmers. These cards provide tailored fertilizer and nutrient recommendations for better crop yield.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, farmers benefited from a 55% subsidy on micro-irrigation techniques such as sprinklers and drip systems. Furthermore, a subsidy of up to 75% was offered for installing pumps for tube wells and other irrigation systems.

Symptoms and control of yellow vein mosaic virus in okra crop

Symptoms and control of yellow vein mosaic virus in okra crop

It is a viral disease which spreads further due to the sucking insect present in the crop.

Symptoms: In the early stages of the disease, the veins of affected plant leaves turn yellow, but as the disease incidence increases or in the later stages of the disease, this yellowness spreads over the entire leaf and as a result, the leaves start to curl and shrink, and the growth of the plant stops. The fruits of the affected plant become pale yellow, deformed and hard.

Control: This disease is mainly spread by white flies, for its control spraying of Novaceta (Acetamiprid 20% SP) @ 30 gm per acre or Pager (Diphenthiuron 50% WP) @ 240 gm/acre in 150 to 200 litres of water.

Horticultural Crops to Get Fair Prices Under This Scheme – Full Details Inside

Market Intervention Scheme

The Market Intervention Scheme is emerging as an effective initiative to ensure farmers cultivating horticultural crops receive fair prices for their produce. This scheme aims to protect farmers from losses when crop prices drop significantly in the market.

Under this scheme, farmers are guaranteed a fair price for their horticultural crops, including fruits, vegetables, and spices, which are often perishable and highly susceptible to price fluctuations. When market prices fall drastically, the government or government-authorized agencies purchase these crops, ensuring farmers receive the right value for their hard work.

This initiative not only safeguards farmers from financial losses but also ensures the timely sale of perishable crops at reasonable prices.

Thrips damage and management in Garlic Crop

Thrips damage and management in Garlic Crop

Thrips are found in the garlic crop, which is quite microscopic. Both males and females of this kit cause damage. These insects attack the delicate parts of the plants, and as a result, the plants are not able to grow. This pest pierces the leaves by scratching and sucking all the sap from the leaf, due to which the leaves curl, the plant starts drying up, and also the bulbs of affected plants remain small.

Management: To control thrips damage, spray Tafgor (Dimethoate 30 EC) @ 264 ml or Fipnova (Fipronil 5% SC) @ 400 ml per acre in 150 to 200 litres of water.
