Symptoms and prevention of Wilt Disease in Guava

  • In wilt disease, the leaves turn light yellow while the leaves of the top branches become curved and twisted.

  • In the later stage, the yellowed leaves discolour and fall prematurely. 

  • The plant fails to produce new leaves or flowers causing some of the twigs to bare and eventually dry up.

  • Proper sanitation in the garden can keep the disease at bay. The infected trees should be uprooted, 

  • For prevention of this disease, Trichoderma viride 5 -10 gm or Pseudomonas fluorescence 2.5 -5 gram per 5 kg of treated cow dung should be added per pitcher, while planting and 10 kg per pitcher on old plants.

  • Trichoderma viride 5 -10 gm  or Pseudomonas fluorescence 2.5 -5 gram per litre of water and drench on the plant.

  •  Make a basin around the guava plant and mix CARBENDAZIM 45% WP @ 2 gram/litre of water or COPPER OXYCHLORIDE 50% WP @ 2.5 gram/litre of water and drenching it in the basin.

Madhya Pradesh farmers will get e-vouchers to buy fertilizers

Farmers have to face many times in getting urea, DAP and other fertilizers, due to which sometimes the crop also gets spoiled. In view of this problem, the Madhya Pradesh government is going to conduct a new experiment to make available fertilizers to its farmers on time and as per eligibility.

Under this, e-rupee vouchers will be given to the farmers of the state even before the start of the crop season. With this e-voucher, farmers will be able to take their share of fertilizers easily. With this, the government will also find out whether the farmer to whom the manure was sold is really a beneficiary or not.

  • Before sowing Rabi crops such as wheat, gram, mustard and pulses their seeds can be tested. 

  • Farmers can test their seed germination before sowing and increase the production of their crop by sowing good variety seeds 

  • To do this farmers can either use the paper method or cotton cloth method.

  • For the paper method, fold the newspaper four times in equal size and place the seeds in the middle. Tie the two corners of folded paper with thread.

  • After this, pour a tiny amount of water on the seeds and make the seeds wet. Seeing the germination status in two to five days, calculate the percentage of germinated seeds 

  • In the cotton cloth method, count 100 seeds and spread them on cloth and add some water and observe the germination status in two to five days and calculate the percentage of germinated seeds.

  • By testing the seeds, we get to know the ability of the seed to grow, what percentage of our seed will grow so that we can increase or decrease the seed rate.

  • Insect disease is detected in the seed by examining the seed.

  • Farmers’ income increases, cost decreases.

  • We get healthy seeds from seed testing, which increases the yield.

There may also increase in rain activities over northeastern states including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal. Moderate rains are also likely over southeast Rajasthan including the southern districts of Gujarat. The weather of South India will remain dry.
