How to control mealybug in soybean crop

  • Mealybug is a type of sucking insect that attacks leaves or twigs and sucks its sap.

  • This insect is like white cotton, the adults of this insect affect the growth or development of the crop or plant by sucking the essential nutrients from a large number of plants.

  • Mealybugs form a waxy layer on the stems, branches and under the leaves of soybeans by forming a large number of clusters.

  • It releases a large amount of honeydew on which black sooty mold accumulates.

  • Affected plants appear weak due to which the fruiting capacity is reduced.

  • For the control of this pest use Thiamethoxam 12.6% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 9.5% ZC @ 80 ml/acre or Fipronil 40% + Imidacloprid 40% WG @ 40 gm/acre.

  • Use Bavaria bassiana @ 250 gm /acre as a biological treatment. 

  • Neem oil 10000 ppm can be sprayed @ 200 ml per acre.
