Management of fruit borer in chili

Fruit borers in chillies cause great harm, so their control is very important.
This damage is done by gram pod borer and tobacco caterpillar.
This caterpillar feeds on the newly developed fruit of the chilli crop. When the fruit is matured, the caterpillar eats the seeds. During this time, the caterpillar consumes the seeds by placing its head inside the fruit while the rest of the caterpillar ‘s body remains outside the fruit.
EMAMECTIN BENZOATE 5% SG@ 100 gram /acre or FLUBENDIAMIDE 20% WG @ 100 Gram/acre or CHLORANTRANILIPROLE 18.5 % SC @ 60 ml/acre
As a biological treatment use BEAUVERIA BASSIANA @ 250 Gram/acre .

The adult of this insect is in the form of moths, with front wings dark brown and hind wings white-gray.
This insect lays eggs on the fruit, from which the larvae enter and eat the fruit.
The head of this larva is black and the body is pale pink color, which turns red-brown in color.
In starting, these larvae scrape off the peel of the fruit, which causes crust-like spots. Later they enter.
Black penetration holes are seen in the affected fruits from which pulp and juice come out.
Its infestation starts from the pea size of the fruit to fruit matures.
Collect and destroy the affected fruit.
Spray neem oil or neem based insecticides with 5 ml per liter of water at an interval of 15 days should be done from the stage of fruit formation. Or
Mix 1 ml deltamethrin 2.8 EC per liter of water and spray it at an interval of 15 days.
Spray 20 ml lambda cyhalothrin 4.9% EC with Beauveria bassiana 75 gm in 15 liters of water.

Do not take the same crop continuously in the same field, follow crop rotation.
Adult flies lay eggs in flowers. Eggs go into maggots, which feed inside the fruit and cause rotting.
For effective prevention of the pest, remove fruits before spraying the insecticide.
Size of the infected fruits deteriorated and cut caused foul smell.
To control the number of pests, apply pheromone trap @ 4 nets per acre.
For pest prevention, spray emamectin benzoate at the rate of 5% SG @ 100 g + Bivaria bassiana 250 g per acre. or
Spray Chlorpyrifos with 200 liters of water at the rate of 20% EC 300 ml per acre. or
Spray Bifenthrin @ 10% EC @ 400 ml / acre.

For control of adult pests, use pheromone trap @ 3-4/acre.
First spray Profenofos 50% E.C. @ 300 ml/acre + Chlorpyrifos 20% EC@ 500 ml/acre.
Second Spray Profenofos 50% EC @ 300 ml/acre + Imamatin benzoate 5% SG @ 80-100 gm/acre or Profenofos 300 ml/acre + Flonicamid 50% WG @ 100 gm/acre.
Third spray imacactin benzoate 5% SG @ 80-100 gm/acre + fenpropathrin 10% EC @ 250-300 ml/acre.
Fourth spray Chlorantraniliprole 9.3% + Lambda Cyhalothrin 4.6% ZC @ 100 ml/acre or thiodicarb 75% wp @ 250 grams/acre.
Spray the Beauveria bassiana @ 1 liter or kg/acre as a biological treatment

A circular hole is noticed at the base of the pedicel. The premature dropping of flowers and pods. The fruit turns to white color.
Mainly borer larvae have grown up into the fruits.
Early instar larvae by making a circular hole feed on young pod and flower buds. The larvae usually feed the seeds in mature fruit.
At the time of feeding the larvae head inside the pod and rest of the body outside from fruits.

Shoot and Fruit Borer:

Adults are medium-sized moths, 13 to 15 mm long head and thorax ochreous-white
Control:- The infected fruits and shoots should be removed regularly and destroy.
For effective control of shoot and fruit borer, apply Carbosulfan 25 % EC @ 400 ml/acre OR Bifenthrin 10% EC @ 400 ml/acre OR Methomyle 40% SP @ 400 g/acre.

White Fly:

Nymphs are oval, scale-like and greenish-white in color. Adults are 1mm long, covered completely with a white waxy bloom.
Control :- Spray of Acephate 50 % + Imidacloprid 1.8% SP @ 200gm/acre
Acetamiprid 20 % SP @ 100-150 gm/acre OR
Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 80 gm/acre.

Red mites:

The damage to the fruits starts soon after transplanting and continues till harvesting of the fruits.
It can reduce yield by as much as 70%.
Multiple overlapping generations occur in warm climates.
The short pinkish larva of the pest initially bore into the terminal shoots resulting in withering and drying of the shoot.
In the later stage, it bores into the young fruits by making holes and feeds inside and lose their market value fruits plugged with excreta.

Management:

Install pheromone trap @ 5 /acre .
Continuous cropping of brinjal on the same piece of land should be avoided.
Fruits showing boring should be picked and destroyed.
Spray the crop with Cypermethrin 10% EC @ 300ml/acre or Lambda Cyhalothrin 5% EC @ 200-250 ml/acre at fortnight intervals starting from 35 days after transplanting to control the pest.
Best results are obtained when all the affected fruits are removed before spraying.

Caterpillars feed on leaves and flowers.
Sometimes they bore into the developing fruit.
Before planting watermelon for effective control, cultivate deep in the field and destroy the cocoon of insect.
Determine the time of sowing, according to the number of this pest which is less heat during the summer season.
Properly manage the weeds.
Spray cypermethrin 10% EC @ 350-500 ml/acre.
Or spray Fipronil 5% SC @ 250-300 ml/acre

Control of Fruit borer in Tomato:-

The borer enters the fruits making circular holes and completely destroys them resulting into heavy losses both in quality and yield.
For the effective control of this pest, spray Profenofos 40% EC @ 400 Ml/Acre or Indoxacarb 14.5% SC @ 200 Ml/ Acre or Emamactin Benzoate 5% SG 80 Gm/ Acre.
