  • Cucumber is an important vegetable crop. Its immature fruits are used in salads and pickles. Its fruit contains about 96 % water. It is a good source of sodium, magnesium, potassium, sulphur, silicon vitamins etc.

  • Its sowing time is suitable from February to March and June to July.

  • Cucumber can be grown in different types of soil, but loamy soil which is rich in organic matter and has a good drainage system, and the pH value of soil is 6 -7, is considered best for cucumber cultivation. 

  • For the preparation of its field and good germination of the seed, plough the field 2-3 times with harrow or country plough.

  • The following varieties can be selected for the cultivation of cucumber- Krish, Kumud, Suvan, Saira 934 etc. 

  • Seed rate 300 – 350 gm/acre.

  • It is sown on the ridges of the furrow, In which the distance between one furrow to another is 1-1.5 meters and the distance from the plant to plant is 60 cm.
