- Symptoms are primarily visible in the rapidly growing areas because of the very low mobility of calcium in plant tissues.
- Calcium-deficient leaves show chlorosis and then necrosis around the base of the leaves.
- Dead spots appear on the stem as symptoms of Calcium deficiency, causing the death of the parts facilitating the upper growth of the plant.
- Symptoms also cause leaves to turn yellow at the edges which initially were dark green in color and finally causing the plant to die.
- Fruits showing blossom end rot were found to ripen less rapidly. Blossom end rot is closely associated with Calcium deficiency of the fruit.
