Rural youth often think of self-employment but this is not possible due to a lack of financial assistance. However, youth can also become self-employed by starting goat rearing. The government has also come forward to help the youth in this. The Animal Husbandry Department of the Bihar Government has restarted the “Integrated Goat Development Scheme” which was closed for the last two years.
This year the state government is once again taking the initiative to provide self-employment to the youth of poor families with the help of goat rearing. Youth of all categories can take advantage of this scheme. Let us tell you that in this scheme, youth of the general category will get a 50% grant and youth of the SC ST category will get a 60% grant for goat rearing. The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department has earmarked a fund of Rs 5 crore 22 lakh 85 thousand for the implementation of this scheme. It is noteworthy that the average price of a goat of an advanced breed is up to Rs 15 thousand. For this, a grant of Rs 1 lakh 21 thousand will be given to general category people and Rs 1 lakh 45 thousand will be given to SC, ST people.
This scheme is of three types. In this, the first scheme on the lines of “first come first serve” is for 20 goats and one male goat. The second scheme is for 40 goats and two male goats, while the third scheme will start with 100 goats and five male goats.
